I purchased two of these satchels because I was tired of the airlines losing my luggage and wanted to have carryon. These are SO much better than the hardsided luggage. They carry an unbelievable amount of clothing. The fit easily in the overhead bins of the plane and under the seat. They are balanced and easy to carry and have an over the shoulder strap. They have metal standings so they stand upright when set down. My friends commented on how elegant they looked. I may never check baggage again.
