PROS: I needed a bag that could handle a whole day's worth of university school books, lunch and a 17" laptop. This bag is very roomy and can handle 3 1" binders, 3-4 text books, my 17" laptop. However it does take some imagination to get it all to fit. The large front pouch is great for LARGE lunch and snacks. CONS: Handle feels a bit weak & flimsy.Wheels wore through and split open in 3 weeks (these wheels are absolutely the cheapest things I have ever seen).It would be nice if the bag opened from the top (clamshell) and not the side like a book. This causes everything to spill out when you reach into the back of the bag. [...].Nice to Have:A carry strap (shoulder) for the side to make it easier to tote around when not wheeling it. When you fill this bag, it can get HEAVY!!!More sturdy backpack straps or make them optional to remove them and use the spot as an extra pocket.

I bought this item for my daughter, who is studying abroad all next school year. We have two others in the family, but this is a newer version with a lighter-weight frame. With the new airline restrictions on luggage, this bag with all parts attached counts as ONE carry-on. I anticipate her using this bag heavily: she can detach the smaller pack for light trips around town or use the larger one for the frequent smaller trips she will have in the course of the year.

It's a great bag, everything I expected. It arrived very quickly and I found luggage.com site very dependable. great customer service. I even called the next day to expedite the service and the charge was very reasonable and it arrived in time. the bag is very sturdy and the only possible downside is it is a little heavy for a carryon. the zip off backpack is great and it zips off and on very easily, no problems with the zipper.
