I wanted a purple backpack for everyday use. This one is just the right size for hauling everyday gear (not big enough or rugged enough for a camping trip, but the right size and design for use around campus or around town).
I have another pack that's bigger and bulkier and which has a thousand different pockets, and I find that one too heavy and unwieldy, and I always lose stuff in it because I forget which pocket things are in. By contrast, this one is like the ones I used when I was in school 25 years ago, simple and to the point, the right size and weight, and easy to organize.
The color is light, closer to lavender than dark purple.
