I was a little reluctant to purchase a new briefcase for my husband, but when the handle and clasps were getting weaker, I knew I needed to spend the money. He had an accident in the middle of the crosswalk (the day before the new one arrived) whereby everything went flying across the street. A kind gentleman got out of his car and helped him pick everything up. By the time my husband met me at the bank, I knew it was going to be "a good thing" that I researched and purchased the perfect replacement.

The rivets on one side hinge pulled out. I replaced them with larger rivets and it is working fine.

Combo Lock assembly is made of plastic and not a very secure locking mechanism. Lacks in pockets and interior padding. Hingees are of poor quality and installation.

Always hard to purchase something sight unseen but I had previous good experience with Samsonite. This replaced a briefcase I had for 16 years (also a Samsonite) that lived a rough life and lasted a long time. This one is all it's advertised to be. It's rugged, has a nice appearance, well constructed, and has a comfortable handle. Good value for the price. What I didn't like?

-Pen holders are horizontal instead of vertical. They tend to fall out in routine carrying.
- Requires 2 hands to open. Must push latches to the side simultaneously. So if you're driving and want to open it to access something (with it on the passnger seat), you have to take both hands off the wheel. It's predecessor you could open each latch individually with one hand.
- Can't close it without latching it. It's predecessor you could leave the latches open and open and shut the case on a table top as needed. If you close this one, it latches. So again, you have to open with 2 hands.
- Bulk. This is up to the individual but, I didn't need a case this thick. A 4" version would have been preferred. Easier to live with on airplanes if it's thinner but, it depends on how much you need to carry.

This case replaces a 1983 Samsonite attache that served me well for 27 years. Two months into use, I find this one is lighter weight, feels flimsy, the shell material is thinner and no longer has a liner. It only has two pockets in the top as opposed to the three to which I had become accustomed. The combination lock is more difficult to manipulate (feels less secure). Otherwise, I like the looks as it is quite a handsome attache. I'm banking on the fact it's a Samsonite product to prove it's as tough as it's predecessor.

It is just what I wanted, a simple black hardshelled case that stays open in the passenger seat as I drive with the things I need in easy reach.

The attache case was a gift for my husband. He likes it because it has a hard case and multiple compartments for storage. It projects a professional image for our home based photography business.

The case is nice, but for $88. it's a little cheesy. It serves its purpose as my husband needed a deep case with a hard sides. The Inside/Top is very stiff pleather, not many options for materials.

I have to say when I opened it I had a 'take it or leave it' attitude. My husband beats the crap out of his brief cases so if it looks nice in a year, I'll be happy.

I purchased it on line because it was difficult to find a regular/hand-held brief case without a laptop facility.
