I bought this umbrella to replace a portable one I had lost, and took it with me to Europe on vacation. I tried it out during a heavy Midwest rainstorm beforehand, and was a little disappointed to see that it let a little rain through. When the storm was lighter, I had no problems at all with this, so I suspect the heavier downpour was more of a factor in the leak. Using a little wax water sealant (commonly used for pack and sleeping bag seams and zippers) on the points where thread was used to sow the canopy to the umbrella frame fixed that problem for me. Its more than large enough for two people to walk beneath it comfortably, which was exactly what I got it for, and it certainly lives up to its name by withstanding some pretty fierce winds during thunderstorms. Overall, this is one really nice umbrella, and an amazing deal.
